The barytes or barite, from the Greek baros ( "heavy", a word that also gave rise to barium) is a class of mineral sulphates and AXO4 type. It is chemically barium sulfate BaSO4.
The Barite is a mineral commonly used to increase the density of drilling fluids. The main component is barium sulfate, but there may be significant amounts of other minerals. The performance of a barite in drilling fluid,
is on the rate and form of these minerals are barite, and are distributed within the ore from which the barite. While some of these minerals have little or no effect on drilling fluid properties, others may degrade these properties and may even be harmful to team staff
